Anzio

Fourth stop: ANZIO, Italy

Hey! Do you know Nero? Of course you do! And do you know where was he born? Exactly, in Anzio! This small town is located in the ‘heart of Italy’, in Lazio region, 50 kilometres from Rome. That’s the place where Nero and Caligula were born many years ago and till today we can admire there remains of their villa situated on the beach. To be honest, it’s the best place to see the beautiful sunset as well!

In addition to Nero’s villa and his statue, there are more reasons to visit Anzio. The town is well known because of the Battle of Anzio, so the Allied forces landing. The inhabitants of the town remember this event till today, so if you want to know something more about it, just ask someone there or go to Museo dello Sbarco di Anzio (Landing Museum of Anzio). Then, it’s worth to see the port full of boats and of course la piazza, typical, Italian square with fountain, situated in the city centre.

It’s the most important place in every, Italian city, especially in small town like Anzio. People meet there every day just to talk and drink something. After the whole day of sunbathing and swimming in the sea, you should go to the one of many restaurants and first try seafood and then the best ice-cream in the world!
